Konyak Union (KU) has expressed deep concern over the recent incident involving the NSCN-K (Khango) and KKB proprietor Rülho, in which the former had reportedly threatened capital punishment, and the subsequent non-cooperation resolution of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) against the NSCN-K (Khango).
KU president Tingthok Konyak and assistant general secretary Chingyem Kony AK in a press release said it had come to their attention that the contractor involved was associated with roads and other infrastructural development in Mon district and other parts of the state.
They said that KU had always extended support to contractors operating in its region, ensuring their safety and swift resolution of any disputes through a proactive involvement. Pointing out that the union had consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to protecting individuals within its jurisdiction and fostering peace and development, the union asserted they stood firmly against any action that hindered or stagnated development processes in the region.
KU maintained that their goal was to safeguard all people and maintain a peaceful and progressive environment. Urging both NSCN-K (Khango) and AYO to seek an amicable resolution to the matter, KU emphasised that the situation should not be blown out of proportion, requesting people or groups to refrain from framing this as a tribal issue.
They also strongly condemned any life-threatening action and harassment against any individuals, pointing out that there were proper and respectful means to resolve disputes, and that they did not condone such dangerous and harmful behaviour. The signatories also that KU remained committed to facilitating a peaceful and constructive resolution to this issue.
