The month-long “Gift a Radio Campaign”, initiated by the office of the zonal head (Co), Akashvani, North East Zone, Guwahati, concluded with a closing ceremony at Akashvani Kohima, on August 1.
A press releases from head of programme, Akashvani Kohima Abino Lasuh informed that the event celebrated the historic opening of the first-ever radio station in North East India in July 1948.
The campaign highlighted the crucial role of radio in fostering community involvement, bridging gaps, and preserving regional heritage. Throughout the month, celebrities and notable figures from various fields in Nagaland encouraged listeners to gift radio sets to loved ones and those in need.
It also featured the presentation of radio sets to selected Akashvani Kohima listeners, symbolizing appreciation and aiming to extend Akashvani Kohima’s broadcast reach. Akashvani Kohima expressed gratitude to all participants, supporters, and the community for their enthusiastic engagement. The organization remains dedicated to its mission of serving as a dynamic platform for information, education, and entertainment, continuing to connect and inspire through the power of radio.
