Activities organised for students

Several schools and colleges organised programmes and activities for the students as part of their co-curricular activities.

Pranab College: A blood donation camp was organised by Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme in collaboration with blood bank, District Hospital Dimapur at Pranab College on August 9. Blood Bank Hospital Dimapur consultant, Dr Rongsen Longkumer, spoke on the importance of blood donation. ICTC Dimapur counselor, Titepeni, spoke on the basics of HIV and AIDS awareness. A total of 53 units of blood was donated by the principal, faculty and students to the Blood Bank District Hospital, Dimapur.


PGC: Phek Government College (PGC) observed its 42nd annual fresher’s meet on August 9, at Deo Nukhu Hall with Chakhesang Students Union president, Pfhülo Sara, as the guest speaker. The welcome address was delivered by PGC principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir, followed by short speeches by Phek town Chakhesang Students Union president, Vezovo Rhakho and PGC vice president, Rayi Veswu.


MGM College: MGM College department of English celebrated National Book Lovers’ Day 2024 on August 9. The event featured students from the department reading lines from their favourite books, including selections from the canon of English literature by authors such as Charlotte Brontë, William Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, and Louisa May Alcott, as well as contemporary writers like Jojo Moyes, Colleen Hoover, and Jericho Brown. The event concluded with a book exchange among students and faculty members.


Immanuel College: Immanuel College, Dimapury conducted its graduation ceremony for the class of 2024 at the College Auditorium with SDO (Civil) Dimapur, Yangthungbemo Kikon as the commencement speaker, on August 9.


Yangthungbemo in his speech, emphasised on the importance of perseverance and ethical conduct in both personal and professional life. He also felicitated the toppers. Graduation certificates were presented by Immanuel College principal, Th. Sharatchandra Singh.


Unity College: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur concluded a comprehensive 60-hour Skill Development Training Programme on “Livestock Production and Management” for students from Unity College, Dimapur which commenced on July 22. The training was directed by CTO Animal Science, Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of students’ in various aspects of livestock management. A total of twelve students were trained during the training programme.
