Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC), Medziphema under the department of Agriculture welcomed the new batch of Agriculture Extension Trainees (AET) for the 2024-2026 session by organising an orientation programme on August 30.
Altogether 80 AET will be undergoing rigorous two-year training course to enhance their agricultural skills. Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, who graced the event, urged the trainees to develop their expertise, emphasizing their future role as vital contributors to the Agriculture department.
In his speech, C. Peter Yanthan, director of Agriculture, highlighted the rich history of IETC, noting its establishment in 1964. He emphasized that the institute has been pivotal in training over 800 individuals who play a crucial role in connecting agricultural research with the farming community in the State.
The orientation included a comprehensive briefing on academic rules and regulations by Seyievielo Sono, vice-principal & academic in-charge. Dr. Vizokhonyü Yhome, lecturer at IETC, chaired the programme, while Dr. Watimongla Jamir, principal, IETC & Director, SAMETI, delivered the welcome address, and vote of thanks by Arlind Walling, lecturer.
