The 24 Assam Rifles, in collaboration with IGAR (North) and the department of Social Welfare, organized the “Breaking the Silence” campaign at the AR Auditorium, Wokha on August 30.
The event, held in partnership with Kripa Foundation, ACTS Foundation, and the Department of Social Welfare, aimed to raise awareness about mental health and the rising issue of substance abuse, particularly among the youth.
The campaign featured prominent speakers, including Miss Northeast 2023, Kenie Ritse, and Miss Nagaland 2022, Hikali Achumi. Kenie Ritse addressed the topic of mental abuse, focusing on strategies to overcome it.
Hikali Achumi spoke about substance abuse, cautioning students against the dangers of drug use and describing it as a brain disease. She also led the participants in taking the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India) pledge.
SDO Civil Wokha, Echungbemo Erui, expressed gratitude to the two guests for sharing their valuable insights with the students and encouraged the attendees. The event also included an interactive session where students from various schools in Wokha engaged in discussions on topics such as self-confidence, exam stress, and drug abuse.
The programme began with an invocation by Y. Chumbenthung Murry, welcome speech by company commander of 24 Assam Rifle, special performance by DBS Wokha and Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha and vote of thanks by Sr. Supervisor of Social Welfare Wokha, Erenbeni Kikon.
