Commending the responsible department for its proactive effort in monitoring and maintaining the Niuland-Kohima (via Ghotovi-Zhadima) road to ensure a safe and smooth journey for travellers, the Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has urged the department to continue to closely monitor the situation 24×7, given the road’s critical importance as a vital alternative route to the State capital.
WSH through its media cell appreciated the department’s prompt response to the current situation. Further, the hoho also extended support to order issued by the DC Niuland to monitor anti-social activities along the route.
Acknowledging the potential risks and challenges posed by increased traffic flow, the WSH said it was committed to collaborating with village leaders, organizations, and authorities to ensure public safety and order. WSH said it would also work together to prevent traveller harassment and support swift action against individuals or groups causing public disorder.
Meanwhile, the hoho has extended condolences to the families of the six individuals who tragically lost their lives in the devastating landslides at Pherima on September 3, 2024. WSH urged the state government to provide prompt and adequate compensation to the affected families.
