Mokokchung police carried out a joint raid with IR and 2nd NAP personnel and seized huge quantity of IMLF in Mokokchung town on two separate occasions on September 21.
In this connection, ten persons were also arrested, said Senior Superintendent of Police Mokokchung. During the raid, the joint team seized 1188 bottles of IMFL including canned beer and eight persons were arrested. Police informed that similar raids will also be conducted to check the illegal flow of IMFL.
In another incident, Mokokchung police while conducting routine checking at Impur junction intercepted a Bolero pick up (ASO3 – CC 3775) and recovered a huge number of illegal IMFL from the vehicle. The seized IMFL included 57 cases of 375 ml (MC Rum) and 20 cases of 500 ml (canned beer).
The driver and owner of the consignment identified as Yungis Lomo (36) S/o Nongsu v/o Waoshu PS Tuensang and Sanjib Tanti (29) S/o Kamesh v/o New Sonowal PS Mariani-Assam were arrested. A criminal case has also been registered under NLTP Act at Mokokchung police station I for further investigation, police said.
