Nagaland: DBSU felicitates students with S.K. Dutta award

Dimapur Bengali Student’s Union (DBSU) felicitated the DBSU HSLC and HSSLC rank holders with S.K. Dutta award in an event held at Ram Thakur Sevashram, Netaji colony, Dimapur, on Sunday.


The event S.K. Dutta memorial award was attended by Dimapur Municipal Council councillor, Kili N Sumi as the chief guest. Speaking at the programme, councillor Kili Sumi expressed immense pride in DBSU commitment to public service while congratulating the students being honored for their dedication and reverence and praised the Bengali community as a “pillar of cultural and intellectual strength.”


She emphasized that today’s achievers stand on the shoulders of past giants—artists, poets, philosophers, and leaders—who have contributed not only to Bengali heritage but also to the world.

“Education is just one piece of the puzzle,” she said, advising the students that integrity, curiosity, and determination will shape their futures. Reflecting on her journey into public service, she reassured the students that while challenges lie ahead, so will opportunities to make a difference.

Quoting a Bengali phrase, “Kohona harda mana” (never give up), and urged the young achievers to remain resilient and embrace a lifelong spirit of learning and to keep dreaming, learning, and staying humble. The awardees for HSLC rank holders included 3rd rank holder, Pabitra Deb, 4th rank holder, Sucharita Mahajan, 11th rank holder, Ashmita Mukherjee, 12th rank holder, Megha Paul, 13th rank holder, Urbi Chakraborty, 14th rank holder Ankush Chakraborty and Ranadeep Goswami, 16th rank holders, Shreya Debnath and Shoumik Palit, 18th rank holder, Priya Rai, and 19th rank holder, Tuhin Das and Joismita Biswas.


In the HSSLC category, the awardees were 5th rank holders, Deep Mandol and Koyel Sutradhar, 6th rank holder, Anhrajit Dey, and 10th rank holder, Binak Debnath. Additionally, Rudrakshi Lodh from Pranab Vidyapith HS School was honored with the “Matri Bhasha Excellence Award,” conferred by Bishnu Chattacharjee and family.


Short speeches were also delivered by Rajat Ghosh and president Dimapur Bengali Samaj K.K. Paul, president DBSU Deepankar Sarkar welcomed the gatherings and vote of thanks by asst. GS DBSU Jayanta Debnath.
