Pungro Sub-Division Government Teachers’ Union (PSDGTU) hosted a seminar aimed at addressing key issues affecting adolescents, on September 21, at the Multi-Purpose Stadium, Pungro Town. The event was attended by over 720 students from schools across the sub-division, offering a platform for education and empowerment.
A press release by general secretary PSDGTU Kheshen, informed that the seminar featured expert speakers who tackled various adolescent concerns. Dr. Sikukhimew Torechu, Medical Officer at CHC Pungro, presented on “Early Pregnancy among Adolescents,” underscoring the need for reproductive health education.
Renzemew Yimchunger, a school counselor at GHSS-Pungro, led a session on “Mental Health,” focusing on stress and anxiety management. David Deshelen spoke on “Substance Abuse,” providing students with information to make informed choices.
Vice Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Pungro, Alemsangla, highlighted the importance of such seminars, saying, “Creating awareness and supporting students during this critical phase is crucial.” Meanwhile, PSDGTU expressed gratitude to the resource persons, institutions, and students for their participation, affirming its commitment to organizing similar programs for the holistic development of students in the future.
