Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) comprising of 23 wards (97 colonies) has suggested extending the parking time from one hour to three hours, since one hour was short and caused inconvenience to the general public.
In a letter to Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) chairman, DUCCF president Zasivikho Zakiesato and assistant general secretary Bokato Wotsa also called for identifying categories and exempt certain locations such as residential and semi-residential.
Citing National Highway rules, they suggested that national highway too be exempted.
They also requested the DMC chairman to deal firmly with collectors found intoxicated or were abusive to the public, or even terminated from the assignment.
Further, they appealed the chairman for framing some rule and regulations regarding the parking for the benefit of both the DMC as well as the general public.
Maintaining that their suggestions were for the benefit of general public, the DUCCF leaders hoped that the DMC chairman would consider them and do the needful in this regard as soon as possible.
