In view of the upcoming rehabilitation work on the Road over Bridge (ROB) on NH-29, near Hotel Tragopan here, the bridge will remain closed to all vehicular movement from 6 am on October 1, till the rehabilitation work was complete.
This was stated in a traffic advisory issued by Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie on Friday. Accordingly, traffic diversion plan has been drawn for heavy, light, and medium vehicles, with restrictions in place to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the repair period.
Heavy vehicles entering Dimapur through Dillai and New Field gates and intending to proceed to Chümoukedima or Kohima, will have to take the Khatkati CRPF Group Centre Charali Dimapur by-pass four-lane highway.
Heavy vehicles delivering cargo to western side of Dimapur- Golaghat Road, GS Road, and Clock Tower Junction areas- will be allowed to enter via Dillai Gate and New Field Gate.
Cargo intended for the eastern side of Dimapur -Nagarjan, Supermarket, and Burma Camp- have to take the Khatkati CRPF bypass through Kaliram and Kushiabill villages.
Movement of heavy vehicles within Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) jurisdiction will be restricted from 7 am to 7 pm from October 1 till further notice.
All heavy vehicles, including police and paramilitary, will be barred from using the railway flyover, although medium-sized school buses would be permitted.
Meanwhile, light/medium vehicles heading to the western side of Dimapur from Chümoukedima/Kohima are advised to use the Thahekhu route via Nagaland Zoological Park. Vehicles proceeding to Assam will have to take the Kushiabill or Veterinary Burma Camp route via Khatkati Check Gate.
All routes, except the Overbridge (ROB), would remain open for light and medium vehicles, with specific restrictions. Accordingly, Deluxe Point to Holy Cross Police Point will be one-way traffic, with two-wheeler parking only on the right-hand side, while vehicles from Clock Tower(City Tower) heading towards Holy Cross are to proceed straight to Dhobinallah, and vice-versa.
Khermahal to Deluxe Point route will be operated as one-way traffic, and GS Road from Army Supply Police Point to Durga Mandir will be two-way.
Kalibari Road from Jain Temple Gate to Durga Mandir junction will be one-way, while one-way traffic will also apply from Public College of Arts and Commerce/Fire Station to Tourist Lodge Police Point.
Additionally, entry of commercial vehicles, including auto-rickshaws and Tata mobiles, will be restricted at Tourist Point flyover, Eros Lane junction, Durga Mandir-Deluxe Point, and Dhobinallah to Clock tower(City Tower) routes from 9 am to 7 pm.
The CP has urged commuters to comply with the traffic regulations to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow during the rehabilitation period and added that changes could be made to the traffic plan as required based on traffic conditions. The CP disclosed that traffic diversion would remain in effect until the completion of the ROB rehabilitation work.
