Various educational institutions organised several programmes and activities for the students and faculty as part of their co-curricular programme.
MITE: Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) organised an outreach activity for senior citizens. A press statement by MITE principal informed that MITE conducted a meaningful outreach activity on September 28, under the theme “Volunteering for the Old Age People” at the Good Samaritan Senior Citizens Home, Meriema, Kohima. Under the guidance of teacher in-charge, Dr. Rajesh Babu Pammi, extension cum outreach activities, was also conducted. Students and teachers engaged in various activities aimed at enhancing the well-being of the senior citizens residing at the home.
GPS Ghokito Village: Annual Children’s Library Fair was held at Government Primary School Ghokito Village, led by chairperson Takamenla from Nagaland Centre for Human Development & Information Technology (NCHD-IT), on September 28. The event kicked off with a short video highlighting the educational journey of NCHD-IT, followed by captivating performances by the students.
During the event, attendance accolades for 2023-2024 were presented by S. Lithungo Lotha, with prizes awarded by the chief guest, Education Department, Dimapur, senior SDEO Jevika Kiba. In her speech, she acknowledged the NCHD-IT team’s significant contributions to community livelihood education, particularly in enhancing learning opportunities.
Jevika praised the initiative for promoting co-curricular activities and emphasized the vibrant library concept for children in government schools. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity available to the village and GPS Ghokito, highlighting the positive impact of the programs initiated by NCHD-IT within this short timeframe. Short speech was delivered by Ghokito Village chairman, Ahoshe Kiho, and remarks by school incharge of GPS Ghokito, Akashe Zhimomi. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Alemla Longchar of NCHD-IT.
MHSS: Department of Science, Modern Higher Secondary School held its annual Science Exhibition on September 27, with an objective to promote interest in science and technology and help students develop scientific attitude.
The exhibition consisted of a total of 34 models from both High School and Higher Secondary students. Besides staff and students, the exhibition also witnessed participation from students and teachers of Genesis School, Government High School Chandmari, Coraggio School and Mt Sinai Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
In the Higher Secondary category, the model with Rocket launcher and Air Cooler was adjudged the winner while Acid Rain and Rainbow Flame bagged the second and Flaming Flask and Smokey Splash clinched the third position. In the High School category, Water and Fire Rocket was adjudged the winning model while Electrical Conductivity and Earthquake Alarm were awarded second and third position respectively. The winners from both categories were given cash awards.
SJU: A seminar on the “People’s Education Program (PEP)” was held on September 25 at St. Joseph University (SJU) auditorium, organized by Khadi and Village Industries in collaboration with the Department of Management Studies and the Innovation and Incubation Centre (IIC) of SJU. In his speech director, KVIC, Dimapur, Prem Kumar Singh’s discussed the importance of khadi and village industries in creating employment and promoting self-reliance in communities.

The seminar also featured a prize distribution ceremony for an essay and debate competition held on September 23. W. Wangzei Konyak from JMC won first prize in the essay competition on the theme “Swadeshi:Understanding Gandhiji’s Vision of Self-Reliance,” while Avilasha and Anjuli Kumari Singh secured second and third places.
In the debate competition on “Development of Village Industries is a Prerequisite for India’s Economic Growth,” Anglle Shinganaisui won first place, followed by Virieno and Phalwani Sumpi in second and third. Certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winners by the State Director and Assistant Director, KVIC.
JN Aier College: J.N. Aier College, in partnership with the sanitation department of Diphupar A village council, organized a comprehensive cleanliness drive on September 26, as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative.
A press release by NSS J.N. Aier Unit P.O. Mhatsomo W Yanthan informed that the event, garnered significant community support, aimed to promote environmental awareness and contribute to a cleaner and healthier Diphupar.
