As per directive of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the state home department has cautioned that stringent actions would be taken against the offenders in hoax calls/bomb threat incident at the airport under Suppression of unlawful Acts against safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982.
BCAS has issued orders to deal with bomb threats/messages as such incidents were grave cause of concern, leading to serious inconvenience of passengers, airlines and security agencies.
As per the Section 39 (a) of Suppression of Unlawful Acts against safety of Civil Aviation Act,1982, “whoever; at any airport, unlawfully and intentionally using any device, substance or weapon – Commits an act of violence which likely to cause grievous hurt or death of any person; destroys or seriously damages any aircraft or facility at the airport or disrupts ant service at the airport, endangering or threatening to endanger safety at the airport shall also be punishable with imprisonment life and shall also, be liable to fine.
It stated that whoever attempt to commit or abets the commission of any offence under the section shall also be deemed to have committed such offence and shall be punished with the punishment provided for such offences. It has, therefore, requested that action under the law be initiated to implement stringent corrective measures.
