Nagaland: 6th PMJAY anniv observed

The 6th anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and the 3rd anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) were celebrated in Kohima and Phek districts on September 30.


In a welcome address, ADC Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, said the introduction of PMJAY and its components, such as Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, aimed to meet the United Nations’ sustainable development goals by ensuring that no one was left behind in accessing healthcare services.


Dy.CMO Kohima, Dr. Imchatoshi, gave an overview of the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, which provides health insurance coverage of up to Rs.5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary healthcare. PMJAY has been designed to cover over 10 Crore poor and vulnerable families across India, providing them access to free and cashless healthcare services in empaneled hospitals.


ABDM, on the other hand, aims to digitize healthcare systems, making medical records more accessible and integrating health services across the country.


In Kohima district, there are currently four empaneled public hospitals and five private hospitals under the scheme. Dr. Imchatoshi highlighted that Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has the highest registration and transaction under PMJAY, with 2,558 patients treated and 1,601 beneficiaries registered.


Additionally, under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), the hospital has registered 1,197 patients with 723 beneficiaries. However, Dr. Imchatoshi pointed out that many hospitals in the region needed improvements in facilities, equipment, manpower, and infrastructure to meet the criteria for empanelment.


DC Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, congratulated the Health department and all stakeholders for the success of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY. He urged village and colony leaders to support the health department’s efforts in their areas to achieve 100% coverage and awareness of the scheme.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where the Naga Hospital Authority was recognized as the best-performing hospital under PMJAY. Additionally, two beneficiaries were presented with their Ayushman Bharat scheme cards, symbolizing their access to healthcare coverage under the program.


PHEK: Phek district celebrated “Ayushman Pakhwada” from September 20 to 30. In a press release district media officer NHM, Phek, Kutolu Nakro informed that as part of “Ayushman Pakhwada,” the district celebrated its anniversary on September 30 and organised a health check-up camp on September 28.


To mark the day, an essay competition for government higher secondary schools was also conducted. District media officer NHM Phek, informed that the 6th anniversary was celebrated at Dr. Wethselo T. Mero Memorial Hall, DH, with NCS, DC and chairman, District Implementation Unit AB-PMJAY CHMIS, John Tsulise Sangtam as chief guest, who emphasized the importance of sharing information about the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and CMHIS schemes, highlighting the benefits.


CMO, Dr. K. Chitale Hiese delivered a brief remarks on the celebration of AB-PMJAY, discussing the benefits of the scheme and shared the number of beneficiaries registered under the empanelled hospitals in Phek district.

The best-performing empanelled hospital was bagged by District Hospital Phek. The top three winners of the essay competition, themed “Ayushman in Every Household, Every Household Ayushman,” were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
