Commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, mass cleanliness drives were carried out across the state.
KVYO: Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) organised mass social work on October 2, coinciding with nationwide Swachh Bharat initiative with the primary objective to clean and beautify village surroundings in preparation for upcoming festive season and to ensure that the village remains clean and green.
A press release by KVYO informed that the event saw enthusiastic participation from all quarters of village. KVYO along with Thinuo Youth Organisations organized the event, ensuring that every part of the village was covered during the cleanliness drive.
Special attention was given to public spaces such as roads, community halls and public pathways, which were thoroughly cleaned. Additionally, the volunteers took the opportunity to whitewash several public walls, giving the village a fresh and vibrant appearance.
WOKHA: Wokha Forest Division and Doyang Plantation Division organized an awareness programme cum cleanliness and plantation drive as part at Doyang on October 2.
The event saw participation from 19 villages, and around 200 volunteers planted a total of 400 saplings.
Head of NEEPCO’s Doyang project John Zeliang emphasized the importance of environmental protection. DFO Wokha, Suman Sivachar, spoke on the significance of cleanliness, urging everyone to maintain not only a clean environment but also clean thoughts and a clear conscience.

AR Kohima: Assam Rifles Kohima organized cleanliness drive at Puliebadze, under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, bringing together various communities, organizations, and security personnel, working collectively to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
The event saw participation from students of Sazolie College, Science College, School of Science and Technology, Nagaland University and Forest Department, while Kohima Municipal Council made valuable contribution by presenting two dustbins for installation at Puliebadze, helping to ensure a clean environment for visitors.
HSYO: Ward No. 1 High School Youth Organisation (HSYO) conducted cleanliness drive on October 2 within its jurisdiction. SJS Kiusam Town: St John’s School (SJS) Kiusam Town celebrated Gandhi Jayanti Day as Cleanliness Drives Day under the theme “Be clean. Be healthy”, on October 2 with students and teachers participating in a cleanliness drive.
YGC: Yingli Government College (YGC), Longleng observed culmination of Swachhata Hi Seva, by organizing cleanliness drive in and around Oushok Village (NSS Adopted Village).
Altogether 77 NSS Volunteers, seven faculties, 17 Oushok Village Students Union members, three Village Council member, two NSS Committee members and one PO participated in the programme.
