Department of Excise & Prohibition destroyed seized liquor and drugs, amounting to around Rs 43 lakh, under relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989/NDPS Act 1985, at Excise Directorate Complex, Dimapur on October 22.
The destruction was carried out by the duly constituted Liquor/Drugs Destruction Board.
According to Commissioner of Excise, H. Atokhe Aye, The destroyed liquor/drugs consisted of assorted IMFL/Beer (25,558 bottles), Spasmo Proxyvon (2100 capsules), and Heroin (821 grams).
An amount of Rs.7 lakhs was deposited as revenue realized from case compounding and 619 persons arrested for liquor offences and four persons arrested in connection with drug cases. Atokhe commended excise enforcement personnel for huge seizures despite of limited man power and in difficult conditions, and further encouraged them to continue to work sincerely.
The destruction programme was chaired by the Jt. Commissioner, Excise (NC) and reports of seized articles were read out by Superintendents of Excise, Dimapur Dist, Mobile Squad and Narcotic Cell.
