Director of Tribal Affairs, I Sino Phom on October 29 inaugurated the Bayavü Multi-Purpose Building at Bayavü, Kohima after a dedicatory prayer by Rev. Kevi Khana, pastor of the Christian Revival Church.
In her speech, Sino congratulated the colony residents and commended the Angami tribe for their hospitality in embracing various tribes and people. She urged everyone to move beyond tribalism and foster a spirit of mutual accommodation.
In his welcome note, Khinyi Woch, chairman of the Bayavü Area Panchayat, expressed gratitude for the support and contributions received throughout the process, from acquiring the land for the Multi-Purpose Building to its inauguration.
He specifically acknowledged chief minister Neiphiu Rio, past and present members of the Legislative Assembly from Northern Angami AC, department of Tribal Affairs, and the residents of the Colony. Neiphrelie Metha, a member of the Multi-Purpose Building Committee, revealed that colony members have contributed approximately Rs. 11 lakh towards the project.
Earlier, the program featured an invocation by the pastor of the Lotha Baptist Fellowship in Bayavü. The program included an acknowledgment by Kenei Jamir, secretary of the Bayavü Women Organization, and a performance of “Rasslin’ Jacob” by The Willing Souls.
Medongulie Tsürho delivered the vote of thanks, while the event was chaired by Pirong Jamir, secretary of the Bayavü Area Panchayat.
