NSCU conducts capacity building training

Nagaland State Cooperative Union (NSCU) organized a one-day training on capacity building of chairman and secretary of the Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) for three districts, Dimapur, Nuiland and Chümoukedima on May 27, at NSCU Conference Hall, Dimapur.
The primary objective of the training was to provide essential education and guidance to cooperative societies on how to bring about changes and effectively manage the functioning of their societies.
Altogether, 55 participants from 25 societies attended the training.
In his welcome address, NSCU CEO, Immanukshi said that the training programme was organized, keeping in view the growing number of PACS in the department. The objective was to train office bearers, secretaries, accountants, and managers of PACS who have been selected by the Ministry of Cooperation for the computerization initiative in the three district. The training aimed to maintain uniformity of accounting system with others states and enhance management skill.
He emphasized that, through this program, members of the managing committees must equip themselves with the knowledge to manage their societies more effectively.
He also urged participants to learn how to properly maintain records in their cooperatives and to develop leadership qualities necessary for guiding their societies beyond any disputes.
Short speeches were also delivered by Multipurpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) Dimapur, Chairman, L. Aries, ASU Farming Society, Chumukedima, Chairman, Arsapa Chophi, Hortiprenure secretary, Alemla Tonger and introduction of the trainees.
Later, a capacity-building training for the Chairmen and Secretaries of PACS was conducted. The topic “Book keeping of the Cooperative Societies” was presented by NSCU Dimapur CEO, Immanukshi, Sub Registrar of Cooperatives Society (SRCS) Niuland, C. Lidila delivered a session on “Management of the Cooperative Societies,” and SRCS Mangkolemba, Imtimendang delivered a session on “Leadership Development in Cooperatives.”
The programme was chaired by NSCU, president Kedoutsolhi Wetsah, invocation by NSCU Dimapur, office assistant, Vinush Angami, and vote of thanks by NSCU, vice president, Mohokiya Apon.
