NSCN (I-M) demands 3rd-party intervention or threatens to resume armed resistance

National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) has issued an ultimatum, demanding third-party intervention to address what it described as India’s “betrayal” of the Framework Agreement’s terms or else, it would be compelled to resume “armed resistance” to defend Nagalim’s unique history and sovereignty.

This was contained in a statement, signed by NSCN (I-M) general secretary/ato kilonser and chief political negotiator Th. Muivah. He alleged that the Indian government has failed to honour its commitments in the Framework Agreement, which was viewed as essential for Nagalim’s identity.

Muivah argued that the agreement explicitly recognizes Nagalim’s sovereign national flag and constitution, elements which he claimed, were disregarded by the government of India.
Muivah further asserted that NSCN (I-M) would no longer pursue peaceful means due to what he called “ignominious betrayal” by the central government.

He warned that, should conflict arise, the responsibility for any adverse consequences would lie with New Delhi for breaching its commitments.
While emphasizing readiness for armed struggle, Muivah stated that the NSCN (I-M) however remained open to an “honourable political settlement”- provided India fully respects the Framework Agreement’s terms.

He urged Nagalim’s people to prepare for any outcome, expressing confidence in their resilience and commitment to their cause.

‘Bluff and rule’: Cong slams GoI after NSCN threatens to break CF
NEW DELHI, NOV 8 (PTI): Hitting out at the Centre after NSCN (I-M) threatened to break ceasefire agreement, Congress on Friday recalled that Prime Minister Modi had hailed the pact in 2015 as a game-changer said “bluff and rule is the Modi hallmark”.

In a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “On Aug 3 2015 the non-biological PM boasted about this being a game-changer that would transform the NE. 9 years later we still are in the dark regarding details of the agreement…” Officials said that talks with NSCN (I-M) is currently going nowhere as the group has been insisting for a separate Naga flag and constitution.
