Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland (AKKN) observed its 25th anniversary on November 16, at Samson Phu, Agahuto, Chumoukedima, under the theme “Reclaim Our Roots.”
Delivering greeting message, advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election, Tovihoto Ayemi congratulated AKKN on reaching milestone and said Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, must acknowledge and remember the founding pioneers, for establishing the union.
He said as a union, they must ponder how to bring Sumi people together, promote reconciliation, and shoulder responsibility among the Sumi tribe. He appealed to the Ayemi clan to be ambassadors of peace, unity, reconciliation, and uplift, strengthening bonds and contributing to the Sumi community.
He underscored the importance of Ayemi clan relations with other Naga communities through migration roots, to foster more cordial relationships.
On the Naga political issue, Tovihoto appealed to Sumi national workers to build networks with all Naga political organizations, setting aside differences for an early Naga political solution. He also appealed to Sumi GBs to play an active role as mediators and facilitators, continuing to build bridges among the Sumi community and Nagas at large.
Advisor of Industries and Commerce, Hekani Ayemi Jakhalu, who also graced the celebration encouraged AKKN to remember and celebrate the pioneers and roots of the Ayemi clan, preserving their rich history. She also urged the gathering to continue having close bonds of love and unity among families and communities.
Mentioning that Ayemi clan was known for simplicity, humility, and straightforwardness, gifts from God, she encouraged the clan to continue carrying their forefathers’ legacy and put God first to seek blessings for the Ayemi clan and be torchbearers of the Sumi community.
Chairman Howoto Avemi expressed gratitude to the pioneers of Ayemi who established the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu for their visionary role and legacy for the present generation, underscoring the importance of migration roots of the Ayemi clan and cordial relationships among Ayemi and Sumi communities.
He said that the first gathering of Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu took place on May 5, 1999, at ex-minister Kiyezhe Aye’s residence, where the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland, was established. He expressed gratitude to Samson Ayemi and his family for allotting land and hosting the silver jubilee celebration of Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland, and to everyone for their contribution.
Kakihe Ayemi, additional director of Tourism, and chairman of Tuku Kughuko Kuposhukulu, spoke on the theme “Reclaim our roots.”
Earlier, the monolith was unveiled and dedicated by Rev. Dr. Kashito Ayemi at Samson Phu, the souvenir was released by Tovihoto Ayemi and the second edition of Ayemi Kughuko Xüle 2024 released by Zhevishe Ayemi, retired commandant, NAP.
The jubilee event was chaired by V Asheto Aayemi, convenor planning board, and Y. Hokiye Ayemi, jubilee secretary, recorded the proceedings. The program began with an invocation by Rev. Atoshe Ayemi, pastor Aghunato Area, followed by Rev. Dr. N. Khekiye Ayemi, Mission Director SAMS, who bestowed blessings and prayers and vote of thanks by Y. Lahoto Ayemi, general secretary AKKN. The program concluded with benediction by Khekavi Aye, mission secretary, NCRC, and a jubilee feast.
