Tragedy struck the ongoing Hornbill Festival as a 67-year-old British tourist, Nigel Richard Goodman, from Bradford City, UK, passed away due to a cardiac arrest on Saturday evening while attending the Hornbill festival at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

According to Additional SP Kohima, Soriso, Goodman reportedly collapsed near Gate No. 1 of the Heritage Village while waiting for a bus at approximately 4:15 p.m. He was immediately rushed to the First Aid Station at the venue and later referred to Oking Hospital Kohima, around 12 kilometers away.

Goodman was admitted to the hospital’s emergency ward at 5 p.m. Despite medical intervention, his condition worsened, and he was declared dead in the ICU at 7:40 p.m.
Authorities conducted an inquest led by a magistrate and the police, ruling out any foul play. A post-mortem examination was carried out on Sunday morning at 9 a.m., with the provisional cause of death determined as myocardial infarction (heart attack).

In a gesture of respect, the Tourism department, in collaboration with the Kohima Police, organized a send-off ceremony on Sunday afternoon at the Kohima North Police Station.
Goodman’s body was then transported to Dimapur for further arrangements.
