The Jalukie Pumling Youth Organisation (JPYO) has issued a statement urging contractors, engineers, and stakeholders involved in road construction projects within its jurisdiction to ensure strict adherence to approved guidelines and standards.
The organization highlighted critical observations and issued directives for three major projects: NH129A Package 2, Package 3, and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Under NH129A package 2, JPYO observed discrepancies in the construction of the breast wall, particularly the height, which deviates from the specifications outlined in the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Given the hilly terrain, proper construction of the breast wall is vital to ensure structural integrity, prevent landslides and erosion, and avoid potential hazards. JPYO reminded contractors to use only approved materials meeting the required standards and to strictly follow the DPR to ensure safety and the long-term sustainability of the road.
Under package 3, the organisation raised concerns about the road width within its jurisdiction, noting it to be narrower compared to other sections. This deviation poses safety risks for vehicles and pedestrians, as well as the potential for future traffic bottlenecks.
JPYO has urged the concerned parties to review the road’s dimensions, take corrective measures to widen the road, and ensure adherence to the prescribed width in future projects.
PMGSY (Kamdi Bazar to Jalukie Town):With the PMGSY road construction project set to commence soon, JPYO has called on all contractors, engineers, and project supervisors to ensure full compliance with the standards and guidelines outlined in the DPR and relevant PMGSY protocols.
The organization emphasized the need for high-quality materials, strict adherence to construction processes, and durable outcomes to benefit all stakeholders while meeting the objectives of the PMGSY program.
JPYO announced that it would conduct regular inspections and evaluations of ongoing construction to ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and quality requirements. Any deviations will be addressed promptly to maintain the highest standards of safety and sustainability.
