Y. PATTON GRACES OCSU PLATINUM JUBILEE
Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton graced the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Old Changsu Students Union (OCSU) at the local ground Old Changsu village, Wokha district on December 28.
According to DIPR report, Patton while extending greetings, congratulated the founding members, pioneers, and all those who have contributed towards the OCSU, and expressed optimism that the celebration would bring peace within the community and produce students with character and values.
He also said that platinum jubilee will serves as a catalyst for cultivating strong leadership and fostering successful individuals and intellectuals within the community.
Sharing his personal anecdote about his past association and experience with the elders and pioneers of the village and former student leaders, Patton urged the students to emulate the good deeds and examples set by the leaders to become responsible members of society.
He also called upon the students to understand their roles and responsibilities and strive hard to excel and achieve their goals with sincerity and dedication. Further, he emphasized the importance of inclusivity and nurturing young children for progressive development.
Earlier, Patton unveiled the monolith and the OCSU flag, while the monolith was dedicated by Rev. Dr. Nzan Odyuo, principal of Golden Crown Theological College, Dimapur.
The theme speaker of the event, Dr. Apeni Lotha, retired director of Higher Education, spoke on the theme “Pruning for Excellence,” encouraging the congregation to foster education and skills among the upcoming generation and to act responsibly in bridging the gap.
Short speeches were also delivered by Lotha Students Union president Lirhonthung Kithan, Englan Range Students Union president Chonbernthung and Old Changsu Village Council chairman Elithung Ngullie.
Earlier, Eyingbemo N. Shitiri, president of OCU, delivered a welcome note, while L. Thungpen Lotha, convenor of the Jubilee Planning Committee, addressed the gathering.
Ekyimo Odyuo, president of OCSU (1977-1978), shared the history and formation of OCSU.
Jubilee blessing prayer was offered by C. Chonbemo Shitiri, pastor Old Changsu Baptist Church.
TSAKOU YOUTH ASSOCIATION GOLDEN JUBILEE

Tsakou Youth Association (TYA), P. Khel Kohima Village celebrated its golden jubilee at Sotenuomia Mechiiki, Gariizou on December 29. Gracing the jubilee as chief guest, Thejawelie Gregory Sote, Commissioner and Secretary, department of Water Resources, unveiled the monolith at Tsakou Rhiiba Mechiiki followed by the hosting of the jubilee flag at the main venue.
Gregory acknowledged the visionary elders and leaders who have sacrificed and toiled in uplifting the community. He lauded the TYA leaders, both past and present for successfully carrying out the challenges and goals on education, employment, and cleanliness, which were envisioned during the 25th anniversary celebration in 1999.
He also appraised the entire congregation on the importance of building and nurturing their own family that holds an immense share in building a just society. He laid special emphasis on a balance role between the ambitious youths and the wisdom of elders in building a progressive society basing on truthfulness and fostering what is right and just.
President of TYA, Theyiesanyii Sote presented a brief report on the activities and events in regard to the year-long celebration of the association’s Golden Jubilee celebration.
He also highlighted a statistical report on the achievements of its members in the fields of academics, competitive exams, medical and engineering steams, sports, and various other professional and non-professional courses.
The event was also blessed with the presence of invitees from various associations, as well as well-wishers from the extended families of the Tsakou Rhüba.
