Mokokchung Centric to organize 52nd Watch Night service

Mokokchung Centric, a people’s group, is set to organize the 52nd edition of the Watch Night Service at the Mokokchung Town Main Centre Police Point on the midnight of December 31, 2024.

This long-standing tradition, initiated in 1972 by the Seasonal Club, has been a significant event for the community, marked by blessings from the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA).

A press release by Mokokchung Centric informed that over the years, the event has brought together people from all walks of life, fostering unity and celebration.

While it has been consistently organized in the past, there was a brief pause in 2022 when no organization stepped forward to take charge. Mokokchung Centric took the initiative to continue the tradition, ensuring the continuity of this valued event.

This year, due to the inability of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) to organize the service, Mokokchung Centric stepped up to host the event.
The group, supported by generous contributions from well-wishers in the form of finances, sound systems, platform arrangements, services, and event management, has ensured that the event proceeds smoothly.

To secure the future of the Watch Night Service, Mokokchung Centric has initiated efforts to mobilize resources and establish seed fund, which would ensure any group or organization willing to take up responsibility in the future can do so without financial constraints.

Contributions from the public are welcome to support this endeavor, the release informed.
Mokokchung Centric further expressed gratitude to district administration and police department for granting permissions and assistance in the event management and also extended gratitude to the well wishers and artistes for their contribution.

For contributions or further information, individuals/organization has been informed to contact Atsongchanger (9436606996).
