Highlander Chumoukedima retained their champions title for the third time of the 29th Winter Cricket Challenge 2024-25 after defeating LCYO in the final on Tuesday at public ground Wokha.
Winning the final toss, the Highlander forced LCYO to bat and restricted them for just 94/7 in 20 overs. The much-relied batsmen for LCYO failed to show off their batting skills in the much-needed hour. The only batters for LCYO to score two figure marks were Nzanthung 13 and Mhajan Patton 19.
LCYOs batters failed to contribute towards the scorecard. Asif was the pick of the bowling attack for Highlander claiming 2 wickets in his allotted quota of 4 overs and gave away only 9 runs.
Chasing the low target, Highlanders rode on the shoulders of Hiketo Aye 43 runs and supported by Nagaho Chishi 12 runs not out. Renchio was the only bowler for LCYO who bowled tight overs in the much-needed phase. He bowled 4 overs gave just 11 runs and took 2 wickets. The Highlander won the match by 6 wickets in 14.1 overs. Hiketo Aye was adjudged as the Man of the Match for the final.
