RPP slams govt’s ‘abysmal failure’ to operate CMHIS

Rising People’s Party (RPP) has slammed what it described as “abysmal failure” of the ruling PDA government in ensuring the effective operation of the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and associated health insurance programmes including AB-PMJAY.
In a press release, RPP claimed that the “persistent suspension” of treatment services across major hospitals in Nagaland—CIHSR, Eden Medical Centre, Faith Hospital, Lenjem Hospital (Mokokchung), and Panacea Nursing Home (Wokha)—was a damning reflection of the systemic inefficiency, mismanagement, and utter negligence exhibited by the ruling government.
The party said it was “utterly shocking and unacceptable” that the promised benefits of CMHIS remained a distant dream despite the monthly deduction of Rs.400 from the salaries of over 1.2 lakh government employees excluding pensioners.
Instead of receiving the healthcare they are rightfully entitled to, RPP said the citizens and government employees alike were witnessing a complete collapse of services, with hospitals forced to suspend treatment alleging unpaid dues. “This is a grave betrayal of public trust and a blatant violation of the commitments made by the government,” RPP maintained.
According to RPP, the CMHIS/AB-PMJAY scheme was specifically designed to provide cashless treatment to eligible beneficiaries, including government employees, pensioners, and the public. However, RPP said that the beneficiaries were now deprived of essential health services, whereas the government stood mute and remained indifferent to the crisis it allowed to unfold.
It stated that the ongoing blame game and constant deflection of responsibility by the government was “a direct insult” to the people of Nagaland.
RPP said that the citizens including the government employees were “unfairly bearing the brunt of this monumental failure.”
Stating that the chief minister and the chief secretary can no longer remain silent, RPP demanded that they must step forward and publicly account for the glaring shortcomings and catastrophic lapses in the system. “The people deserve transparency, answers, and urgent action, not evasions and excuses,” RPP stated.
It questioned why were hospitals being forced to suspend services under CMHIS and AB-PMJAY health insurance schemes? RPP also asked where was the money deducted from the salaries of hardworking employees every month actually going?
RPP further questioned why has the government failed to settle the mounting dues owed to hospitals, leaving beneficiaries stranded and vulnerable in their time of need?
The party has asked the government what concrete steps was it taking to address the crisis and restore any semblance of trust in the health insurance system?
RPP maintained that people of Nagaland deserved nothing less than full transparency, adding that the government must be held accountable for its gross dereliction of duty. “If the ruling PDA Government continues to shirk its responsibilities, it will only exacerbate the already dire healthcare crisis in the state,” RPP asserted.
Pointing out that the issue was no longer a matter of political gamesmanship, the RPP said it was a critical failure that demanded urgent correction.
RPP affirmed to stand firmly with the people of Nagaland in demanding justice, transparency, and immediate action to restore the healthcare system and hold the government accountable for its “blatant negligence.”
