MoS Shantanu Thakur stresses on fast-tracking development

Union Minister of State for Port, Shipping & Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, during a meeting with Peren district officials at DC’s conference Hall, on January 12, 2025, emphasised on fast-tracking infrastructural and economic development in the region.
In a post on X, MoS said he had “a memorable visit to the magnificent state of Nagaland”, met with district officers, interacted with the locals & held productive discussions on development of North East. He said the meeting was held under Centre’s initiative of developing the North Eastern region.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting was also attended by tribal hohos, town councils and village councils. At the meeting, the union minister took a detailed note of the activities and programmes implemented in the district under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs). Thakur said that all the challenges and issues highlighted have been duly noted and assured that he would intervene as requested and ensure that the issues were resolved.
Earlier, the meeting began with a PowerPoint presentation on profile of Peren district by DC Peren, Hiazu Meru. DC highlighted the progress of various on-going projects/development works undertaken in the district under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) till date. Further, the DC apprised the union minister about the challenges and issues faced in various sectors and sought for his intervention.
NZPO president submitted representation on proposal for construction of waterways shipping in Barak River as well as construction of AIIMs Hospital in Peren District. Kuki Inpi Nagaland president submitted the representation on construction of road from Mongleu to Khelma. Peren town council chairman submitted representation on the proposal for proper water supply in Peren town.
New Peren village council submitted representation on construction of museum at New Peren Village, while Kejanglwa village council submitted representation to grant financial assistances for the construction of Community Recreational Park and View Point at Kejanglwa Village.
The meeting was chaired by DC Peren, Hiazu Meru while ADC Peren, Keyirangding Hegui proposed the vote of thanks.
After the meeting, the Union Minister visited to New Peren Village and Jalukie Town and interacted with the beneficiaries of PMAY-G, Jal Jeevan Mission and PMAY-U.
Later in the evening, cultural programme in honour of visiting Union Minister and his team was organized at Mongleu Resort, Samziuram Village.
