ENPO reaffirms Dec 2019 ‘peaceful zone’ pledge

Following the unresolved land dispute between two communities– Tikhir and Khiamniungan tribes, the Eastern Naga Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has reiterated its December 18, 2019 pledge to declare ENPO jurisdiction as “peaceful zone”.
In a “referendum” jointly signed by the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) president L. Ngon Khiamniungan and Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) president P. Timong Tikhir, with Eastern Naga Peoples’ Organisation president Chingmak Chang as a witness, appealed to give one another “amicable spaces” in the celebration of social events and festivals in Thonoknyu town till such time the landownership of Thonoknyu town is settled.
The joint statement reminded the December 18 pledged that “Henceforth, any disputes, misunderstandings within Eastern Nagaland people shall be localized within the parties involved and resolved within the concerned group through peaceful dialogue.”
In this regard, ENPO has urged the Khiamniungan and Tikhir brothers to maintain the same spirit in the greater interest of Eastern Nagaland, till such time an amicable solution is arrived.
