UK and US Offer Support in Air India Flight AI171 Crash Investigation

The United Kingdom and the United States have pledged assistance in investigating the tragic crash of Air India flight AI171, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport while en route to London Gatwick.

The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has offered its expertise to India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), citing the presence of British nationals on board. The AAIB will deploy a team of specialists to support the Indian-led investigation. The British High Commission in India is working with authorities to establish facts and offer assistance to those affected.

Meanwhile, the US Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) has confirmed coordination with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and expressed readiness to dispatch a team should India request assistance.

Emergency response efforts include dedicated helplines set up by both Air India and the Government of Gujarat, while consular services are available for British nationals seeking support. As investigations continue, both the UK and US reaffirm their commitment to aiding the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
