NSSA bids farewell to 1990 batch retiring officers

In honour of the 11 retiring officer of 1990 NSS Batch retiring in 2025, a farewell programme was organised by the Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima on January 29.

According to a DIPR report, speaking on behalf of retiring members, joint secretary, Finance Department, Neikeduolie, expressed his gratitude to NSSA for hosting the programme in honour of them and also the government of Nagaland for acknowledging the retirees. While dwelling on their profile service career, the retiring officer highlighted that the 1990 batch entered NSS service through NPSC examination in 1990 and shared how they were promoted from the clerical post to 1st class officers in a span of 35 years.

He also shared that during their mixed career services, they have gained a lot of knowledge over the years through interaction and working under dedicated officers of both pre-statehood and post-statehood times who were their mentors.

Emphasising on his wish list, the retiring officer urged the association members to always remind themselves that their appointment and postings are issued and notified in the interest of the public and to serve them. He also asked them to have respect amongst themselves and not have the superior or inferior complex as they are all qualified and entered the service though NPSC examination.

Calling upon the senior officers, Neikeduolie, asked them to be brave and strong in their decision making and change their attitude of feeling inferior as they are assigned to shoulder greater responsibilities, to the junior assistants. Calling on its members, he pointed out that since they were the guardians of the laid down rules and regulation of the government, it is the duty of all the members to protect them.

Additional secretary of Rural Development Department Johnny Humtsoe, who spoke on behalf of NSSA, emphasized that this retirement was a red-letter day for the association as it was a day to celebrate the achievements of the 1990 batch and the government starting a new trend to acknowledge the association’s existence and the services it rendered to the government by acknowledging its retirees with souvenir.

President NSSA, Chubasangla Longkumer while acknowledging the 11 retiring officer of 1990 NSS Batch on their achievements, called upon the association members to take such a programme as a learning time to renew their knowledge as the retirees share their experiences, wisdom and knowledge, since their retirement will leave behind a vacuum that can only be replaced by the NSS members.

Vice president NSSA, E. Longphyo Kikon who chaired the programme also proposed the closing remark, while the 53rd NSS Batch presented a special song.
