As published on January 31, WC/NNPGs announced the unanimous decision in appointing ‘gen’. (Retd.) M.B. Neokpao Konyak, president of GPRN/NSCN (U), as new convener of the committee.
WC/NNPGs acknowledged his unwavering commitment, sacrifice and resolute stand considering that Government of India officially invited WC/NNPGs for the Indo-Naga political dialogue through his good name and office.
Further, to collectively represent the Nagas through WC/NNPGs and to assist the convener at all times, NSCN (R) ato kilonser P. Tikhak and NSCN/GPRN (K) ato kilonser ‘col.’ (Retd.) Isak Sumi were also appointed as working conveners. It was also resolved that the three leaders will coordinate closely with all affiliates on all issues pertaining WC/NNPGs in particular and Indo-Naga issue in general.
The three leaders will serve for a tenure of three years, subject to review. Additionally, Ghukiho T. Zhimomi, cabinet kilonser, will continue as member secretary until further orders, it said. WC emphasized its collective resolve to pursue a political breakthrough to achieve an honorable and logical resolution to the Indo-Naga political conflict.
