A day after GPRN/NSCN (U) president ‘gen.’ (Retd) MB Neokpao Konyak was appointed as convener of the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC/NNPGs) with two others—NSCN (R) ato kilonser P. Tikhak and NSCN/GPRN (K) ato kilonser ‘col.’ (Retd) Isak Sumi– as working conveners, the WC/NNPGs group led by GPRN/NSCN ato kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi, declared that it would not allow any element to denounce the historic Agreed Position signed on November 17, 2017.
Taking note of “some vested group” trying to confuse the public with the formation of new working committee, NNPGs/WC convener N Kitovi Zhimomi and co-conveners Kiumukam, Toshi Walling and Shitoho Chophy issued a clarification following an emergency meeting held on January 31.
Recalling the formation of the WC on December 13, 2016, they said six Naga revolutionary groups had converged to form the NNPGs in the presence of Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) and Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) to work out the formula to fulfil the political aspirations of the Nagas.
They mentioned that it was also unanimously decided to appoint N Kitovi Zhimomi, ato kilonser of GPRN/NSCN, as the convener of WC/NNPGs. And with God’s blessing, they said the WC’s mission had been accomplished with the signing of Agreed Position on November 17, 2017, which they insisted was the only way forward in resolving the prolonged Indo-Naga political conflict.
They said the talks had concluded on October 31, 2019, and they were awaiting the inking of the final agreement between the Central government and Nagas.
They further clarified that if there was any new agenda to be placed before the Central government for fresh negotiations by the new Working Committee led by Neokpao Konyak and some members who were not a part or signatory to the Agreed Position, the WC, NNPGs that signed the agreement would have no objection.
They asserted that the signatories of the Agreed Position were all intact and fully committed to uphold the agreement in letter and spirit under the dynamic leadership of N Kitovi Zhimomi, “who was, is and will be” the convener of WC/NNPGs till the final agreement was reached between the two entities.
Assuring that they were fully committed and ready to emotionally integrate all Naga people across boundaries, the four leaders appealed all the Nagas stating that it was time to create a common platform to bring about the final Naga political solution, and not get confused with such individuals with vested interests.
