Roadside stalls disrupt traffic

Staff Reporter

Presence of fruit and food vendors on the road (from Nagarjan Traffic Point to Walford traffic point) above the Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market) is causing traffic congestion when customers park their vehicles along the roadside to purchase fruits of food items.

When this reporter asked some of the vendors on whether they have permit to set up stalls on the roadside, they replied in the negative. When pressed they said no permit was given to them either by DMC or DAN.

It may be recalled that this particular stretch was among the most congested when local vendors set up stalls along the roadside till they were asked to move to the DAN market sheds. The presence of vendors attracted buyers who park their vehicles on the road and caused huge traffic congestion.

Not to be left behind, fish and poultry vendors from Lahorijan and other areas were also seen selling their products at locations in Khermahal and Purana Bazaar area. Fish and poultry vendors from Lahorijan and Khatkhati have taken advantage of the ban on Sunday shopping.
