A free career guidance talk was conducted at CTC Hall, Chumoukedima, on February 2, organized by NITI Nagaland. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, parents, educators, and public leaders.
Speaking at the programme as chief guest, chairperson of Chumoukedima Town Council (CTC), Lhousito Khro, commended NITI Nagaland for hosting this much-needed initiative.
He appreciated the efforts of the two Youth Icons of Nagaland, who served as resource persons, and expressed optimism that such events would help students make informed career choices. He also assured full support from CTC for larger future programmes by NITI Nagaland.
The resource persons for the event were CEO NITI Nagaland, Er. Rishav Sethi and Cybersecurity expert & entrepreneur, Pangerkumzuk Longkumer. Both were recent participants in the Young Dialogue Forum at Viksit Bharat, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Er. Rishav Sethi provided valuable insights into careers in medicine and engineering through NEET & JEE. He emphasized the importance of studying locally with structured programmes, citing his own experience with FIITJEE’s School Integrated Program in Delhi.
He highlighted how Nagaland’s youth can save time and money while preparing for premier institutes like IITs and AIIMS without the challenges of relocation.
He also spoke on the wider opportunities in STEM education, encouraging students to set career goals early to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive world. Pangerkumzuk Longkumer, a renowned cybersecurity expert, entrepreneur, ethical hacker, and educator, captivated the audience with his session on emerging cybersecurity trends and the importance of ethical hacking.
Having transitioned from an Arts background to becoming a self-taught cybersecurity professional, his journey resonated with many students uncertain about their career paths. He highlighted the growing demand for cybersecurity experts, stating, “STEM is not just about academics, it’s about solving real-world problems. Whether it’s AI, cybersecurity, or engineering, the future belongs to those who are willing to innovate and adapt.”
As the founder of NexusCipherGuard India, he also shared insights on penetration testing, website security, and digital threat training. During the seminar, Kelen Chang, a Class XII Science student of North Town Higher Secondary School, Chumoukedima, has been declared the lucky winner of a smart mobile phone offered by NITI Nagaland.
The reward was part of an initiative to encourage JEE aspirants of 2025, who appeared for one of the world’s most competitive examinations in January 2025. The seminar witnessed participation from over 120 students from Class IX to XII representing Godwin Higher Secondary School, Mount Mary Higher Secondary School, North Town Higher Secondary School, and others. Additionally, NEET & JEE repeaters, parents, STEM teachers, public leaders, and NGO representatives were present.
Senior GB and chairman Chumoukedima Village, Akung, expressed the desire for more such programmes to guide students in the right career direction for a better Nagaland.
Prominent attendees included vice-chairperson CTC, Moasenla Jamir, councillor CTC, Keviseno Kruse, president, Lotha Women Hoho, Rosy Yanthan, Lokyunglo Lotha, president, Titipen cultural group, Prem Kothapalli, NGO pepresentative, various school representatives & NITI Nagaland team members.
The programme began with Fr. Chacko Karinthiyal invoking God’s blessings, followed by a welcome address and vote of thanks from MD, NITI Nagaland, Ajay Sethi. Pallavi Acharjee anchored the event.
