Mount Mary College (MMC) conducted a nature camp from January 31 to February 2, for students and teachers of 2nd Semester of Social Science Pedagogy, at Gwizan Resource Centre, Khonoma village.
The event was organised by Nagaland Pollution Control Board, under Environmental Education Programme (EEP). At the camp, students and teachers engaged in enriching experiential learning opportunity visiting sheep farm at Poilwa, under the guidance of Khriebu Meyase, a licensed nature guide.
The focus of the camp was to foster deeper understanding of environmental conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable practices of Khonoma Village in relation to forests.
Meyase provided valuable insights into various aspects of forest ecology, including indigenous plant species, wildlife, and the overall balance of nature that must be maintained to protect these vital habitats. The camp emphasized how future educators could incorporate environmental education into their teaching practices.
