Under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, the MSME Development & Facilitation Office Dimapur— in association with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland and district administration organized a one-day awareness and GP onboarding camp on PM Vishwakarma on February 6, at the DC Conference Hall in Wokha. The programme was attended by Village Council chairpersons (VCCs) from the Wokha, Chukitong, and Wozhuro blocks.
During the event, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar explained that the scheme was introduced by the Government of India to recognize artisans, craftsmen, and craftspeople across various trades, as well as to offer skill enhancement and relevant training opportunities. Emphasizing the importance of verifying applicants, he urged the VCCs to select and recommend genuine candidates so that both individuals and their communities can fully benefit from the scheme.
Consultant at Ernst & Young Company and PM Vishwakarma (PMU) L.L. Victoria, outlined the guidelines for implementing the scheme. She specified that the initiative has identified several traditional trades for beneficiaries, including boat making, armoury, blacksmithing, tool kit preparation, locksmithing, sculpting, goldsmithing, basket/mat/broom/coir weaving, cobbling, pottery, doll and toy making, garland making, barbering, as well as fishing net and washer man services. She also instructed beneficiaries and applicants to complete the onboarding process in coordination with the District Implementing Committee by submitting verified Aadhaar-seeded names and mobile numbers for uploading onto the eGramswaraj portal.
Later in the day, the Deputy Commissioner handed over toolkits to five beneficiaries who completed carpentry training.
