Seminar on Northeast concludes

The two-day national seminar on “Understanding India’s Northeast: Ethnicity, Identity, and Issues of Conflict” concluded at MGM College Dimapur on February 7.


Organized by IQAC of MGM College in collaboration with the IQAC of Pranab College and sponsored by ICSSR-NERC, the seminar provided a platform for critical discussions on ethnic diversity, identity challenges, and conflict resolution in Northeast India.


The event was inaugurated by Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Chancellor of Nagaland University. In his keynote address, Dr. Kashyap emphasized the importance of critical thinking and the need to enhance teacher quality in the region.

Fr Giju George, college administrator welcomed the guests and emphasized the significance of the seminar in shaping an academic journey and fostering a deeper understanding of contemporary societal issues.

The seminar featured a diverse array of presenters, including academicians and researchers from various universities, who contributed valuable insights into the unique structure and complexities of Northeast India.


The valedictory session was chaired by Washimongla Jamir, assistant professor at MGM College. Dr. Santosh Kumar, principal of Pranab College Dimapur, delivered the closing remarks. Dr Sanjukuta Bhattacharjee (IQAC Coordinator, Pranab College) extended gratitude to the team and the participants.
