NBSE introduces real-time question paper tracking app

As the HSSLC Examination 2025 began on Tuesday, the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has started the use of NBSE Connect App-Question Paper Tracking, which it developed and launched on January 21, 2025.

In a press release, NBSE secretary Rangumbuing Nsarangbe informed that the purpose of the app was to ensure transparency and fairness in the conduct of examination.

The board informed that the key component of the app was to have real-time update about the Question Paper movement across the districts of Nagaland.

It stated that the concerned centre superintendents would take real time pictures in a time bound manner which also collects the Geo-location and the exact time stamp of the task completed. “This way the Board would be able to have real time update about the position of Question Paper of every examination centre conducting the examination for HSLC & HSSLC,” NBSE secretary stated.

Out of a total of 68 HSSLC examination centres, the board informed that 65 centres have uploaded the time stamped geotagged photos successfully using the app on Tuesday.
A brief description on the use of NBSE Connect App

Step 1: Centre Superintendent at the Treasury Office/ Bank.
The Centre Superintendent (CS) clicks a picture when he/she reaches the Treasury Office/Bank. This would allow the Board to be aware when each Centre Superintendent reaches the Treasury Office/Bank. Further this step has to be completed within a time range of 7:30 am to 8:40 am, beyond which the CS would not be able to access this step.

Step 2: Custodian to Centre Superintendent
The Centre Superintendent clicks a picture when he/she receives the question papers at the Treasury Office/Bank. This represents that Centre Superintendent has received the Question Paper properly in a seal packed condition. This step has to be completed between 7:30 to 8:40 am in the morning of the examination day.

Step 3: Opening of Question Paper packet at Centre’s control room.
The Centre Superintendent after collecting the question paper, take all the papers to the Centre’s Control room. Centre Superintendent would take a picture through the app in their mobile phone which would state the fact that the Question Papers reached the examination centre in a seal packed manner. This process has to be completed between 8:30 am to 9:00 am every time on the examination day.

Step 4: Packing and Sealing of Answerbooks (after examination)
After the examination is over for the day, answerscripts would be brought back to the examination centre for packing and sealing. After the answerscripts are packed and sealed, the Centre Superintendents clicks a picture of the sealed state of answerscripts. This process has to be completed between 12 pm to 2 pm on every examination day.

Step 5: Delivery of packets at Post Offices.
After the sealing the answerscripts, the Centre Superintendents are to deliver the answer books at the Post office on the same day of the examination. This step has to be completed between 12 pm to 2 pm.

These steps are monitored at the Boards office by the Admin user in real-time.
The use of technology in monitoring will improve the quality of examination processes in the state.
