State level awareness on ‘Safer Internet Day’ held in Kohima

State-Level Awareness Workshop on “Safer Internet Day” under the global theme “Together for a Better Internet” was observed at the Directorate of Information Technology & Communication, Kohima on February 11, 2025.


On the occasion, commissioner and secretary, Information Technology & Communication, Mohammed Ali Shihab, highlighted on the need to spread the awareness on internet safety, cyber hygiene, online safety practices and the responsibility use of the internet in any platform so that the public are not cheated or face treats as the internet has now become an essential item for everyone.


State Informatics Officer, NIC, I. Lanusangkum Aier in his introductory address said that everyone was aware of all the happenings around the globe through newspapers or online, as there are many opportunities, options and ways and means to get this information to move forward.

He said since information are made available through the public domain which could be informative, destructive, healthy or addictive, one should know which information needs to be contented and which to be shared.


He also highlighted about the frauds and scams through internet and shared how it can be secured, and called upon all to use the internet judicially, safely with responsibility so that we are not affected.


Director, Information Technology & Communication, Er. Sabou Yashu in his welcome address said that the Safer Internet Day is being observed worldwide on the second Tuesday of every February to raise awareness, promote safe and responsible use of internet which is maintained by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

He asked all the HODs to take the programme seriously and become ambassadors to create awareness on safety measures on use of internet. PowerPoint presentation on “Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project” was presented by Director, NIC (IT), Swedevenuo Natso.
