Minister of Housing and Mechanical Engineering, Bashangmongba Chang on Tuesday inaugurated three VVIP quarters at Thizama, Kohima and said that government was commitment to improve housing infrastructure in the state.
He appreciated chief minister Neiphiu Rio, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to infrastructure development in the state. He acknowledged PWD (Housing), led by the Chief Engineer (H) and the Executive Engineer of PWD (NCCD) Division, for their technical expertise, commitment, and diligence in executing the project.
He also expressed gratitude to the concerned contractors and the entire workforce for their efforts to ensure the timely completion of the project by maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
He said the completion of the quarters reflects the commitment to sustainable urban planning, efficient project execution, and the creation of high-quality residential spaces for government functionaries.
The minister also highlighted that while the project marks a significant achievement, and said that the Housing department was committed to improve government residential facilities, office spaces, and other vital infrastructure across the state. He informed that the department will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure planned development, quality execution, and innovative solutions for housing.
He therefore encouraged everyone to reaffirm their collective responsibility to maintain and utilize these facilities efficiently. CE PWD (H) Er.Hozheto Shikhu in a short speech highlighted that activities taken under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
He said the building was constructed in a recorded time and thanked all the stakeholders involved.
Presenting a technical report, SDO -111 PWD (H),NCCD Er.Katoholi said that the Administrative approval for the construction of three residential quarters for VVIPs at Thizama under special assistance to state for capital investment was obtain on July 12, 2023 at the cost of Rs. 18 crores and subsequently work order was issued to three firms namely M/s Yangdip Sangtam; M/s Guolhoulie Rio and M/s JK construction respectively.
She informed that the components of each quarter consist of the main building and various supporting facilities such as guests dormitory cum garage, security barrack and ancillary works such as site development, rain water harvesting (underground RCC water reservoir of 1 lakh litre capacity ), sentry kiosk, compound development, retaining walls, storm water drain, approach roads, gate and boundary fencing.
She highlighted that the project was completed in a span of 16 months as per the specifications. SDO-1 PWD (H) NCCD Er.Rebecca K Achumi pronounced the vote of thanks. Earlier, the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by the state chaplain TW Yamyap Konyak.
