RSZ demand restoration of circular road

The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) has called for restoration of circular road in Tseminyu district headquarters.

In a representation to Urban Development director, RSZ president Kegwayhun Tep and general secretary Hiyalo Jemu appealed for the director’s immediate intervention in facilitating the restoration of the critical circular road in Tseminyu district headquarters, as the safety, comfort and well-being of the residents could no longer be compromised.

They reasoned that prioritising this matter before the monsoon would not only alleviate the daily struggles of the residents, but also ensure a healthier and safer environment for all.
Noting that Tseminyu was officially recognised as the 13th district of Nagaland on December 18, 2021 and formally inaugurated on February 24, 2022, they lamented that despite its status as a district headquarters, the condition of circular road remained deplorable, causing immense inconvenience to the residents, students, and daily commuters.

RSZ said the worsening road conditions had resulted in excessive dust pollution, posing serious health risks, and accidents caused by potholes. They pointed out that students, particularly those in school uniforms, office goers and other commuters faced daily hardships due to the dusty environment.

They cautioned that prolonged exposure to such conditions was bound to lead to respiratory illnesses and other long-term health complications, affecting the well-being of general public.

RSZ leaders said if the road was not restored with proper drainage and blacktopping before the onset of the monsoon, the situation would only deteriorate. They elaborated that the absence of a well-maintained road would render vehicular movement nearly impossible during the rainy season, leading to increased hardship for the public. They said essential services, including medical emergencies and transportation of goods, would also be severely hampered.
