K G Kenye stresses on unity to resolve problems

Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K G Kenye, emphasized the importance of unity among the people and political entities to address lingering issues in the state, specially the unresolved Naga Political issue.

Addressing the welcome programme of at least 54 leaders of LJP (Ram Vilas) Chizami unit of Phek district and their followers into the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 17th Chizami unit, Kenye expressed concern over the increasing political fragmentation among the Naga groups despite shared goals and aspirations.

“Instead of coming together stronger and more united, we are fragmented into so many pieces, which is not good for us at all. If we unite together, the sooner we can get that to resolve,” Kenye remarked.

He wondered if division and fragmentation was needed when the objectives and aspirations of the people remain the same. Citing that even the 60 legislators of Nagaland Assembly are united and working as an opposition-less government, he said the joining of leaders and followers of LJP(RV) into his home Party – NDPP was a sign of unity.

They have come forward to join the NDPP 17-Chizami A/C to support the current leadership of the party under the presidentship of Chingwang Konyak and chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Kenye said while acknowledging their voluntary decision.

“We never persuaded them; it was their own resolve to support our leadership because they trust we will deliver good political outcomes,” he added.
He called for the constituency people to set an example of unity and responsible politics for others to follow.

Kenya emphasized the importance of a home-grown, strong regional party, stressing the need for political stability and continuity and called upon all to nurture and grow the regional party for the general welfare of the people.

At least four leaders of LJP (RV) Chizami unit led by its president Zhasesa Lohe, vice president Ngonyi Krocha, senior leader Vekuyi Cükhamo and advisor A Chasü Krocha speaking on the occasion declared their willful desire to join NDPP and work together for the welfare of the constituency people in particular and the Nagas in general.

On behalf of the NDPP 17th Chizami, 94-year-old advisor K Z Mero, NDPP Central Executive Board general secretary Zhopayi Nakro and NDPP Phek vice president Chietoutse Naro and the NDPP Chizami president Raruveyi Swuro welcomed them into the party fold. Chaired by NDPP secretary Cüsayi Lohe the programme commenced with prayer by Associate Pastor Chizami Baptist Church Metsitsu Chirha.
