Deputy commissioner Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang on Friday launched the Eagle Crest Training Academy & Consultancy (ECTAAC) at Dimapur under the theme, “Soar, Lead, Empower”.
District Employment Officer (DEO), Gideon Sumi, also graced the launching programme as guest of honour. In his speech, DC emphasized the need for skill-based employment and congratulated the team and acknowledged their contribution to youth employment through training and placement programs.
Recalling his past association with the brand, formerly known as Emporium, DC highlighted its role in placing Nagaland’s youth in various international sectors. He said the challenges of government job saturation, citing a recent recruitment drive where over 2,100 applicants, including graduates and engineers, competed for just 13 Grade-IV posts.
Encouraging skill development as a viable employment avenue, Dr. Tinojongshi pointed out government initiatives supporting vocational training. He stressed that skill-based training could enhance economic opportunities and self-employment, reducing reliance on government jobs.
He also assured continued support as chairman of the Skill Development Committee, pledging collaboration with business associations to strengthen employment prospects.
He also launched the company’s official website and alumni association, while the guest of honour Gideon Sumi unveiled the Tourism & Hospitality Training Manual.
DEO, in his address, acknowledged his long-standing association with Eagle Crest. He highlighted the critical role of skill development in empowering individuals and strengthening society. He also expressed appreciation for the institute’s new initiative, the Skill Loan Scheme, launched in collaboration with IDAN Government of Nagaland.
The scheme follows a “train, get a job, and pay later” model, which is expected to benefit educated unemployed youth from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Earlier, the event began with an opening prayer led by Alemsunep Jamir, pastor of World Impact Community Church, followed by a welcome note from Temjenkala Aier, CEO of ECTAAC.
Discussing the employment scenario in Nagaland, he noted that over 72,000 educated unemployed individuals registered across employment exchanges in the state. Among them, Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland districts account for a significant portion, with nearly 27,000 job seekers registered in his office alone.
With limited government job opportunities and thousands of graduates entering the job market each year, he urged training institutes to continue advancing skill development initiatives.
Patricia Zhimomi, vice principal of CHSS, delivered a speech on behalf of the educational sector, highlighting the significance of vocational training in career development.
The event also featured video testimonials from alumni and guardians, reflecting on their experiences and the impact of ECTAAC in their professional journeys. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Allin Awomi, Operations Manager & International Placement Head of ECTAAC, followed by a benediction by Asheli Yepthomi, Aviation Trainer.
