A one day awareness programme organized by Ukha Lamlüng Welfare Society Ltd, sponsored by State Commissioner for persons with Disability Nagaland: Kohima was held at Ukha village, Mon under the Theme “Disability is no inability”.
Speaking at the programme as guest speaker, Diethono Nakhro ex State Commissioner for person with Disability, encouraged the civil societies and Church leaders, village council to focus on organizing such events and highlighted the needs of the differently able person. She said it was not only the responsibility of the government to uplift and fulfill the needs of disabled person but everyone’s responsibility to look after them.
She also urged the civil societies and government to work hand to hand for the betterment of differently abled person. The inaugural session was chaired by Y. Lhamnyei president Mopong Hongkong Students’ Union and the program was graced by Deacon Board Ukha Baptist church while Moba Talem chairman ULWS Ltd delivered the keynote address.
P. Jelao Nangba executive chairman Ukha Students’ Union, chaired the second session while M. Wangshok Konyak Mon District Disabilities People’s Society encouraged the disability person to stay closes with God. He also said a special prayer for the disability persons present at the program.
Vikengunu Fatima Kera, president NSDF highlighted the formation of Nagaland State Disability Forum and shared her experiences towards the forum. She also shared about her tour in almost all the district of Nagaland to give awareness to the people about disability.
T. Yanlem District Welfare Officer Mon spoke about the various schemes and funds allotted to the differently abled person by the Government of India and State government.
While Ashe Kiba general secretary NSDF spoke on the topic “our disability our identity”.
Kaiyong Village Council chairman delivered word of gratitude and Thronlem youth pastor Ukha Baptist Church said the benediction. Altogether 164 disability persons from 48th MokaA/C attended the awareness programme. Wiridin, EAC Mopong also attended the program.
