Intensifying its effort to curb the illegal flow and sale of liquor, personnel from Dimapur district Excise Department and Commissioner of Excise conducted surprise raids on shops and counters selling liquor in and around Dimapur.
According to Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur, Limatsemu Changkiri, in the operation carried out by Dimapur district Excise Department, 869 bottles of assorted IMFL were seized and 14 offenders were arrested and penalised under relevant sections of the NLTP Act, 1989.
Limatsemu said that the department will continue to conduct such raids and strict actions will be taken against all offenders. In another raid, Excise Mobile Squad Unit from Commissioner of Excise, conducted raids in various pockets and areas of Dimapur town and seized 553 bottles of IMFL.
Informing that the department will continue to check the flow and sale of liquor, Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition (MS), Tokuho Assumi has appealed to the public to join hands with the department in the effort to control the menace of liquor in the society.
Public has also been requested to share information relating to illegal storage, transportation and sale of liquor.
