Call for effective implementation of FSSAI

District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) at the 4th quarterly meeting deliberated on unlabelled and unhygienic food items and called for effective implementation and enforcement of the Food Safety & Standards Act of India (FSSAI).


DC Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, who is the chairman of DLAC raised concern on unlabelled and unhygienic food articles sold in the market and suggested routine inspection of hotels and restaurants to meet the requirements & compliance of FSSAI.


Designated Officer, Food Safety Administration cum Secretary DLAC, Dimapur, Samuel Zehol informed that ADC, Dimapur cum Adjudicating Officer (AO), Food Safety Zakabo Rotokha, spoke on the food cases that were being disposed at his court. He emphasized need of awareness to the food business operators at large to meet the compliances as per the provision laid down in the food safety norms.


Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. T Temsu Lkr who is also the vice- chairman of DLAC spoke on the importance of obtaining Medical Fitness certificate for all food handlers under manufacturing and food services.

He also deliberated on the packaged drinking water issue for early compliances and the need of inspections of the Water Bottling Plants by the enforcement officials. He also expressed his concern to reach out to the schools and colleges for Food Safety awareness.

The committee members also discussed on the street food vendors in the district.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by the CMO Dimapur.
