The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Headquarters has strongly condemned the recent statement by the Nagaland Foot Hills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), which referred to NPF legislator Achumbemo Kikon as a “mere MLA.”
In a statement issued by the NPF Press Bureau, the party criticized the remark as inappropriate and disrespectful, emphasizing that every elected representative carries the mandate of the people.
NPF stated that dismissing an MLA’s role undermines the democratic process, as an elected representative is the voice of the people and plays a crucial role in shaping policies and governance.
The party pointed out that Achumbemo’s has been actively advocating for the long-overdue execution of the Foothill Road project, which has been left in cold storage for years despite being a critical infrastructure project for Nagaland.
While constructive criticism is welcome, the party asserted that such disparaging remarks only serve to divert attention from the real issue– the immediate need for the government to act on the Foothill Road project.
NPF urged all stakeholders, including NFHRCC, to focus on the collective goal of ensuring that the Foothill Road project is executed without further delay. The party emphasized that the people of Nagaland deserve action, not divisive rhetoric.
