Awareness cum animal health & vaccination camp

One day “awareness cum animal health & vaccination camp” was organized by an expert team of College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU, Jalukie, Peren at Council Hall, Bongkolong on March 7, 2025 under the guidance of the Dean, Dr. I. Shakuntala.

The programme was funded by ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar, Haryana under TSP-Fund. The chairman, Bongkolong village council, Jangkhongam delivered welcome address and encouraged the participants to avail the opportunities provided by the college for the welfare of their livestock and boost up their production performance.

Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, Programme coordinator, chaired the programme and delivered keynote address. He also urged the farmers to acquire knowledge and benefit from the programme through active participation. A technical session was also held under the program to make aware of the farmers on various aspects of livestock production, health issues and management.


A series of lectures were delivered by the resource persons in the awareness programme followed by a farmer-scientist interaction. Dr. Gunjan Das, Professor & Head, Dept. of VMD, delivered on “Seasonal livestock diseases and their management”, while “Scientific breeding for optimum production from farm livestock”, “Reproductive disorder and their management in farm livestock” and “Poultry farming and management for better economic return” were delivered by Dr. Kh. Mahesh Singh, Assistant Professor, Dept. of AGB, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, Dept. of VGO and Dr. Imtiwati, Assistant Professor, Dept. of LPM, respectively.

A total of 99 people attended the programme, including 86 farmers and 13 officials from the college. Free animal health check-up, castration, treatment and anti-rabies vaccination were carried out during the programme. Moreover, vitamins, mineral mixtures, probiotics, liver tonics, anthelmentics and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the needy farmers covering a total of 1881 livestock.
