NPCB notifies healthcare facilities on biomedical waste

Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) has notified that as per the Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016, all the health care facilities (government and private) must obtain authorization/renewal from the prescribed authority. i.e. Nagaland Pollution Control Board.

In a notice, NPCB member secretary K Hukato Chishi informed all bedded health care facilities to install effluent treatment plant (ETP) within six months and comply with the output discharge standard for liquid waste as per Schedule — II (8) of the BMW Rules, 2016 from the date of issue of the notification.

NPCB also notified that all non-bedded occupiers must dispose infectious liquid wastes only after proper treatment by disinfection as per Schedule — II (6) of the BMW Rules, 2016.
