DMC orders companies to clear tangled overhead wires in Dimapur

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has ordered responsible companies to untangle and organise numerous tangled overhead wires including electrical, internet and telecom cables across various locations under its jurisdiction particularly in and around the road over bridge (Flyover) from Deluxe Point to Tourist Lodge.

In an order, DMC chief executive officer (CEO) Thungchanbemo Tungoe stated that such tangled and unregulated wires not only posed a serious hazard to public safety but also significantly affected the visual appeal of the city.

Therefore, DMC has directed all public and private companies including electric distribution companies, telecom service providers, internet service providers (ISPs), cable TV operators and any company/organization responsible for overhead wiring to untangle and organize all overhead wires within their respective operational areas to avoid any hanging or loose cables within seven days.

DMC also ordered removal of all unused and abandoned wires that were no longer in use.
DMC cautioned that failure to comply with its directive within the stipulated period would lead to legal action against the defaulting company/organization.

DMC said the order was being issued in the interest of public safety and in view of the urban aesthetics and the upcoming cleanliness and beautification drive initiated by its beautification branch.
